As a seasoned Boston maternity and newborn photographer for over a decade, I’ve heard this question countless times:
Let’s dive into it!

Generally, shooting around the seven to eight-month mark is ideal. Why? That’s when you’re likely feeling and looking your absolute best. Your belly’s popped just right, and those cute maternity outfits still fit like a dream. Waiting until the final month could mean dealing with water retention, discomfort, or even the baby deciding to make an early debut!

As your pregnancy progresses, comfort becomes increasingly precious. Fatigue and swelling might set in, and don’t be surprised if your shoe size decides to play musical chairs. So, why not book earlier when you’re feeling sprightly?

Booking ahead allows us photographers to scout the perfect location and plan around any weather patterns. More flexibility means more “rain dates” to play with if Mother Nature decides to throw a curveball. Waiting too long might limit our options with dates and locations.

It’s a bustling world out there for photographers, we have busy seasons for family sessions, specifically spring, fall, and Christmas. Booking after your 12 or 20-week scan ups your chances of snagging your preferred photographer before their calendar fills up!
Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to baby bumps. Whether you’re carrying multiples or have a little one already, your belly might pop sooner than expected. Let’s chat to find the perfect timing for you!
Booking in advance means more time to curate your wardrobe, scout locations, pick preferred dates, and simply relax knowing everything’s taken care of. Trust me, it’s worth it!
Not at all! If the opportunity slipped your mind, fear not. While it may be a bit of a sprint, we can still capture those precious moments. So, let’s grab our cameras and seize the day—your special journey awaits its spotlight!
