Frequently Asked Questions

How old should my newborn be for the session?
If you are currently pregnant, schedule your newborn's session now (I am flexible around your due date). Newborn portraits are usually scheduled within the first two weeks of life. It may seem early to some moms, but trust me, it's worth it.

My baby is a few weeks old, is it too late?
Though newborn sessions are best during the first two weeks of life, the answer is no! It's never too late for photographs of your little one. There may be limits on sleepy photos but I'll be able to capture big smiles and more of their personalities. These cuties are only this tiny once, so as they say, "better late than never"!

Where do sessions take place?
Mommas, this is the best part.. I COME TO YOU! I know how exhausting it can be right after the arrival of a little one. There is just nothing like the comfort of your own home. It's so stress-free to know you don't have to leave your home or pack everything up and take your baby out. Just relax, I'll take care of everything. All you have to do is grab a cup of tea, sit back in your jammies, and watch me capture these tender moments.

My living space isn't very big or bright. Is that okay?
It's not a problem at all! I don't need a lot of space and I bring studio lights in case I need more light. Photographing sessions in and around Boston, I am adaptable and have a lot experience shooting in many different types of spaces, big or small, light or dark.

Can my significant other, siblings and pets be part of the session?
ABSOLUTELY! These are your family keepsakes; they will be treasured forever. I encourage parents and fur-babies to be part of the session. Most mommas don't feel very comfortable being photographed during these long, tiring days and that's ok. Some moms are. I want you to feel completely comfortable either way. Though I do find even shy moms change their mind at the end of the session and we always end up getting a few beautiful images with the mama and baby. :)

What do I have to provide?
Just the baby! It's just that easy. I provide everything for the baby. I bring an assortment of wraps and blankets that match your style and favorite color schemes.

How long do sessions take?
Newborn portraits average about 2 hours. I go with the baby's flow and try to make it extra cozy and relaxing for you and the baby. I want to make sure little ones are happy and comfortable. There is also plenty of time for soothing, diaper changes, and extra feedings. After your session, it will take about an hour for us to help you pick your art and digitals together.

Is there anything I should prepare?
Before photo day, families complete a quick homework assignment to help me customize their session. I send each family a prep list to ensure a smooth and fun session.

What should I wear?
Moms can wear one of my dresses and refer to the prep list. They should wear something that makes them feel beautiful and comfortable (after all.. you just had a little one!). Overall, a solid and light colored top/dress flatter moms and help create a whimsical feel.

Solid colors such as creams, light grays, and light pastels help in keeping focus on your expressions and the moment.  Dads can wear a solid shirt that compliments mom's wardrobe A subtle pattern on dad's shirt can add interest.  More tips on my styling guide for newborn photos.

Anything else I should keep in mind?
If you have any other questions or special requests, please don't be shy...let me know! I want you and your baby to have the most memorable and satisfying experience from start to finish especially since these timeless photographs will be keepsakes and will be cherished for years to come.
